This is a great post. I think it is a great idea to answer questions through video for the questions posted by readers, especially those who are located in remote locations.
Listening to your advice on meditation really helped, since you are speaking from so many years of personal experience.
Your advice on having a consistent practice is very useful.
I have an important update for you. Yesterday, I got a rare opportunity to hear His Holiness Dalai Lama’s address and teaching to the local Tibetan community in Bangalore.
It was my first time watching His Holiness in person and it was a captivating experience.
I wish that all practitioners who are located in remote locations and have no direct access to teachers be immensely inspired to sincerely practice the Dharma, the same way I am greatly inspired after listening to His Holiness.

His Holiness is trying an amazing being. Attending one of his lectures is something that everyone should try and do within their lifetime. Given that he lectures all over the world, this shouldn’t be try difficult. But, you are in a very fortunate position because HHDL is often around Bangalore. The 3 great Geluk monasteries are also located in and around that area. You are very lucky :)
Also I agree, he is very inspiring. In fact, when he visited my monastery in 2002, apparently even the Federal police asigned as protection were inspired to start meditation practice! Hardened police!
To me he is like the historical Buddha in some ways. He travels the world talking to politicians, journalists, Buddhists, non-Buddhists and almost everyone that meets him is affected by his sheer presence. To be near him is electric! I’m looking forward to his next visit to Australia in June this year.

You are absolutely right. His Holiness is like the historical Buddha. His schedule is amazing.
I had read earlier in your blog regarding his visit to Australia to expound on Stages of Meditation. I recently read His Holiness’s book on the same topic. It was wonderful.
Please blog in detail about his visit and lectures.
I traveled to Bylakuppe to visit the Sera Jey monastery in the last week of December. It was an awesome experience.
