Southampton have officially announced a new three-year contract extension for manager Russell Martin, who led the team back to the Premier League.

Assistant manager Matt Gill, first-team coach Karl Martin and goalkeeping coach Dean Thornton have all agreed new deals.
First-team coach Colin Calderwood, sports scientist Reese Owen and pundit Ben Parker have also signed new contracts.
For Russell Martin, the former Norwich captain joined the Saints from Swansea on an initial three-year deal. And led Southampton to a club-record 25-match unbeaten run between September and February, finishing fourth in the Championship.

“I could be sacked tomorrow. So I might not laugh! I feel so touched and happy to have the love and support of the people I’ve spent the last nine or ten months with. Especially in difficult times.” Martin said, adding that he set a club record by going 25 games unbeaten in charge between September 2023 and February 2024.
